Cupping Therapy for better health

Seasons are changing

Cupping massage can physically help you with a few unpleasant aspects of the colder weather. Try to avoid the illnesses this year and use cupping therapy to keep your family healthy throughout the change of seasons. There are really no downside to trying alternative practices like cupping; studies show they can help boost the immune function and speed up healing time without the use of any medications or even herbs.

How cupping therapy works?

Cupping therapy is a potent form of non-invasive treatment that can strengthen the body so it can resist ailments better. Cupping therapy is a massage therapy where vacuum is used in cups to create suction. The use of cupping when applied to the patient’s skin; dispels stagnation, stagnant blood and lymph, thereby improving qi (vital energy) flow in the body. Cups stay in place between five and 15 minutes. So when the cup is removed, circular marks linger and may still be there weeks after. The cups suction is described as a negative pressure. The negative pressure lifts and separates the tissue underneath the cup; this action assists the release of the interfaces between the soft-tissues such as skin, fascia, neural tissues, muscles, ligaments and tendons which help loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system.

Strengthening the system

As a result of the treatment, the cells in the body develop a larger number of receptors on their surface and can respond better to an enzyme called heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). This enzyme has many important functions in the body; it removes the iron content from the old worn out blood cells so that it can be recycled into new cells. It also acts as an antioxidant, and protects your body cells against harmful elements. HO-1 can protect your liver from damage and reduce the inflammation in the body. In this way, HO-1 is highly effective in regulating your immune system and alleviating pain. By preventing swelling in the tissues, it can prevent the symptoms of asthma, cough, fever and various digestion issues. HO-1 can help the body heal naturally.

Muscle therapy

By increasing blood flow to specific areas in your body, cupping boosts muscular regeneration. If you suspect you’ve worked out your shoulders, legs, arms a bit too hard, you can apply cupping therapy to this area shortly after your work out to help stimulate more blood flow to the area. A cupping treatment on the same day will have a good preventative effect relieving muscular stiffness and tensions before it occurs. Patients receiving the therapy may notice a severe drop off in swelling, muscle aches, and chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain.

Detoxification

Cupping therapy is an effective way to speed up the detoxification process in the body. The cupping process cleanses impurities from the body, which is present in the blood. The impurities find their way out of the liver, kidneys, lymph, intestines and the skin. These toxins are released via the skin as a result of the breakage of capillaries under the skin, which releases the toxins. As these impurities are sucked to the surface, it allows a free flow of fresh energy and blood flow to the blocked areas to rejuvenating the body.

The colour change can range from a pink colour that last for a few hours, to a red or deep purple colouration; that can last from days to weeks depending on the severity of the health condition of an individual. The markings will determine whether further sessions are required for the impurities/stagnation to be shifted.
